IL TEATRO ALLA MODA - THEATER IN FASHION
Client: The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, Beverly Hills, California
Curatorial Assistance managed aspects of the development, design, and fabrication of the exhibition, as well as the publication of an exhibition catalogue for the American debut of a collection of 130 theatrical costumes and design illustrations created by Italy’s haute couturiers for opera, dance, and theater. The exhibition explores the contributions of these designers through their inspired creation of costumes for the stage and examines the unique imaginations of these renowned creators of fashion, and their amazing ability to imagine characters and to construct costumes that speak to the audience with color, style, texture and elegance – all in harmony with the essence of the story being told and yet still unmistakably in their signature style. The exhibition served as an announcement for the 2013 opening of The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills.
