How soon can I pick up or get my frames shipped to me?
We offer two framing solutions: the Standard ArtFrame and the Custom ArtFrame. Our Standard ArtFrame is a pre-fabricated product line designed specifically for Curatorial Assistance that is boxed and ready to ship as soon as you place your order. If your Standard ArtFrame order includes a custom mat then your order could take a day or two, depending on the quantity and the current production workload. Our Custom ArtFrames have a 3 to 10 day turnaround depending on whether we have your molding profile selection currently in stock.
How do you secure artwork into your frames?
Most all ArtFrames have a sturdy reverse beveled strainer that invisibly locks into the back of the frame with recessed set-screws. No more do you need to have those unsightly screw heads showing on the side of the frame. This clean and simple securing system allows you easy change-out of images as often as you like using only a Phillips head screwdriver. The reverse beveled strainer provides you with the most secure and effective hanging system around. For shallow-depth frames the more traditional point, tape, and d-ring with hanging wire technique can be used.
What are the inside dimensions of the Standard ArtCrate, and how many of your Standard ArtFrames will each crate hold?
The Standard ArtCrate has the inside dimensions of 21”(h)x17”(w)x25”(d), and was built specifically with our Standard ArtFrame’s construction in mind and perfectly accommodates fifteen 16”x20” frames loaded front to back, or ten 20”x24” frames loaded from side to side—allowing room for 3/16” of foamcore between each frame to prevent chaf
What if I want to pack several frames of varying size into either a Standard or a Custom ArtCrate?
We utilize a simple technique called "tray-packing." Each frame is backed onto foamboard and braced on all sides, holding it securely and keeping it from moving within the crate.
Does Curatorial Assistance build crates for sculptures or other objects that are not picture frames?
Our experts have many years of experience professionally packing and securing delicate and high valued objects ranging from Tiffany lamps to African masks! You can choose from a wide variety of museum tested and approved solutions for the safe and secure packing and storage of your objects no matter where they need to be.
Does Curatorial Assistance offer wooden crates as well as ArtCrates?
We fabricate superb traditional baton-style wooden crates in plywood or paper lined (MDO) plywood walls. Traditional wooden crates with bolt, latch or screw-down lids are highly cost effective crates made with the same attention to detail as our ArtCrates.
Which ArtCrate is right for me?
Our clients generally choose wooden crates for light duty shipping or where a lower crate cost is indicated. If a longer tour is planned, then the high-tech ArtCrate will give you your best economy. While these crates are more expensive to make, they are 35% lighter, which saves on shipping costs every time they move.
